Spring is in the air!

- or maybe not so much for some parts of the country. But out here in Boise, Idaho, the weather is trying it's darndest to warm up. So, I thought I'd help bring in some warmer temperatures with a cheery card.

This cute little bird is from Sparkle N Sprinkle's Shabby Chic Birdhouse Stamp Set 481.

Sing your heart out little one!

Fairy

has gone digital this month.

Here, I used Michelle Perkett's digital stamp Daydream Fantasy Digi 028, and Sparkle N Sprinkle's Glitters in Sunny Daze G1038, Priceless Peacock G1015, and Sparkling Snow G1003.

Mardi Gras Mask

This was my first attempt at trying to design a mask. But..... I'm sharing this with you anyway. I did find the plastic mask a little more difficult to work with than the compressed paper mask.

Spring!

Spring - what does it make you think of? I think of Spring rains, vegetation coming to life, and oh yeah, allergies! But seriously, I do love Spring.

What better way to celebrate the season with a beautiful  Lily from My Rose Garden Stamp Set 402.

Melanie reminds me of a beautiful Southern lady. Always elegant.

Mardi Gras Mask (Compressed Paper)

Glitter, glitter, everywhere! On the floor and in my hair!

So, I decided to think way, way outside my box and came up with a Mardi Gras or party mask.
Because the mask is made of compressed paper, it absorbed and blended the shimmer sprays very well. But it is a good idea to let it dry thoroughly before adding any glitter or other embellishments.

Japanese Lady

Sparkle N Sprinkle's Japanese Lady from Stamp Set 177, Asian 2 - Japanese Lady, is such a versatile stamp.

On her Kimono collar, I used Pretty Princess G1109, and Bubblegum G1088 glitters.

Wine Bottle and Color Challenge

Color Swatch courtesy of
DesignSeeds.com

February's Challenge is to create a card, layout, or whatever, using the colors shown on the right.

This card turned out even better than I had envisioned. With all the bling, feathers, glitter, and gold, it screams a celebration of some kind.

And at the center of the celebration is - what else - a great Wine Bottle.

Fancy Fold with Laura and Isabelle Stamps

These vintage stamps are A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

Here is Laura displayed on a closed Shutter Card.  To me, she looks like a very young lady from the early 20th century, eager to see the world. (kind of Downton Abbey-ish)

Meet Isabelle. Roaring 20's here we come! I do believe my Grandmother owned a flapper hat like this.  This card was so much fun to make. It's a Surprise Pop-Up card. (Left - card closed)

And here the card is opened by pulling on the slide tab at the top of the card. How cool is that!  Everybody gets a kick out of trying to figure out the mechanics on this one - even the guys!

Miss Liberty

Once again, I did a patriot theme. Instead of a flat card, I did a side-step card. The Statue of Liberty and Fireworks are from Sparkle N Sprinkle's Stamp Set 433 Patriotic Icons.

Fan Geisha

For this card, I framed Fan Geisha's head with the large Lotus flower. Coloring the Geisha's outfit green, and the Lotus pink, I tried to give the image of a flower and stem. Stamped along the left side is Bamboo.

Nostalgic Victorian Style Christmas Card

I wanted to create a Victorian style Christmas card. And I'll be the first to admit, this card took some time to put together. So, it's probably not one you'd want to make if you have bunches of cards to send out to family and friends.

The finished card is 5 x 7 inches.
Card front base is brown cs.
Brick embossing folder is from Tim Holtz.
Window die template is Cheery Lynn Designs.
The Victorian Christmas scene is a freebee
from the internet.
I used Sparkle N Sprinkle's glitter in
Goldenrod GM2006, and embossing powder in
Gold EP169.
1-1/2 to 2 inch wide clear packing tape.
Regular tape
Double sided tape
VersaMark Watermark pad
Glitter glue
Chalk ink in Chestnut Roan
Snow Marker
Heat gun

Instructions:
1) Cut brown cs to 5 x 7 inches. With VersaMark pad, stamp sentiment at bottom, sprinkle with ep and heat set.
2) With tan cs and brick embossing folder, run through machine. Cut to desired size and distress with chalk ink. Center window die and cut. Cut a 1/4 inch wide strip of brown cs and adhere under window.
3) Cut a piece of packing tape and place on back side of tan cs so the sticky part is on the front of the card. Cut off any excess. (NOTE: you may want to do this on a piece of wax paper.) Make sure all sections of upper window are adhered to the packing tape. Sprinkle with Goldenrod glitter, tap off excess.
4) Print scene, highlight with glitter glue and allow to dry. Cut out scene and tape to back of tan cs.
5) Add Snow Marker along the top of the brown window ledge. Heat with heat gun just until it puffs up, it will burn if you apply too much heat.
6) Adhere tan cs to brown cs as shown. Adhere card front to card base.
